My works are soul-selfies. Whereas people today are taking pictures of themselves with their phones, I am painting snapshots of personal defining moments. My mixed-medium assemblages are my selfies focusing on the human figure—documenting historical, spiritual, ordinary and mundane experiences while exploring conditions and circumstances with themes revolving around aging, solitude, isolation, and ambiguity.

Working mostly with powdered pigments, spray paint, modeling medium and sand my approach is grounded in the unexpected, spontaneity, chance and experimentation. Working with various mediums, I set out with an idea which sometimes goes off course. I welcome the unanticipated and comfortable with the risks and failures. My best discoveries and successes are outcomes from just letting go and not forcing the materials or ideas. The joy and excitement of producing art, for me, comes from the unpredictable.
