Paper it is ordinary, mundane and it is embedded in our lives. We package, store, transport, consume and discard it and we assume it is always accessible; until it is not. My work documents snapshots of defining moments through life-size paper sculptures called “Pulp People”. Papers’ characteristics is integral in this work as it underscores how fragile life can be and reveals a relationship between resilience and vulnerability; the experiences of being human.

Pulp People are 3-dimensional life-sized sculptural figures made from corrugated cardboard. Pulp figures are not dismembered, mutilated nor to dehumanize but rather are open vessels exposing souls, scars, and life; emphasizing burdens which we carry. It is those imperfections that shine through each piece and where the beauty lies.
